Casual Childcare Worker
First Nation Healing Centre is a non-profit organization which is currently seeking a Casual Childcare Worker. The Casual Childcare Worker plays an integral role in our ability to deliver programs to women and their children. Our centre offers an array of wholistic programs and sessions that focus on family wellness, intergenerational trauma, healing, domestic abuse, and family violence. The childcare room allows us to balance services for both mother and children. It is our hope to find an extra childcare worker for the 4-week Rekindling My Spirit program, 8 hours a day, which is offered numerous times throughout the year. The successful candidate will work under the lead Childcare Worker in the childcare room. (Mothers will be present in the building). This Casual Childcare worker will assist the other childcare worker, alleviate for breaks and lunches, and ensure we have a ratio of helpers according to number of children in the room.
DUTIES:
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment;
- Establish and maintain respectful relationships with children and families;
- Assist children in all aspects related to their development;
- Promote positive interaction of children and parents,
- Must be involved in the management of room by using an organized approach,
- Assist in maintaining accurate daily information and records, maintain
- Willing to work under the supervision of the Childcare Worker, Program Facilitator and Executive Director.
- To keep organized and clean childcare room
- Assist with meal prep, lesson plans, childcare room schedule, organize outings
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two-year experience in caring for children. A certification is always an asset
- Understanding of issues related to caring for children and a good understanding of the affects of family violence on families and children
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment, available to be on-call days, evenings and weekends.
- Excellent oral and interpersonal skills
- Must sincerely enjoy working with children (of all ages) and with families,
- First Aid and Infant CPR training is an asset, however, will allow an opportunity to obtain training.
