Part-time Maintenance Helper
(40 hours by-weekly)

The First Nation Healing Centre is a non-profit organization which is presently seeking a reliable and hardworking part-time Maintenance Helper to support our maintenance team with day‑to‑day tasks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, learning new skills, and contributing to the smooth operation of our facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist maintenance staff with repairs, installations, and general upkeep
  • Perform basic tasks such as sweeping, lifting, organizing tools, and cleaning work areas
  • Help with routine inspections and reporting issues that need attention
  • Support seasonal tasks (snow removal, lawn care, etc., if applicable)
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe workspace
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and perform physical tasks
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment (training provided)
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Previous maintenance or labor experience is an asset but not required
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision, ability to work under stress situations and dealing with Crisis.
  • Valid Drivers Licence,
  • Willing to work evenings, weekend and night shifts.
  • To work in an environment that must be welcoming, supportive and secure those who are seeking shelter and Healing.
  • Must submit a criminal record check, adult and child abuse registry check and drug testing as per FRCN By-law 2004-01, sec. 8.01);

The Healing Centre will provide a safe environment, residency and will address the women’s and children’s physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual needs.

Non-residential outreach with supportive counselling services will be provided to assist the males of our community.
